We have just returned from a tremendous 10 days in San Francisco shooting the very first BEX ROX campaign shoot. The ethos of the shoot had to represent the free spiritedness essence of the brand.
The younger generation aspire to be like it, our generation know it and the older generation feel nostalgic about it. This is ICONIC ROX forever permanent.
So with hot new face Alexis Hutt, freestyle photographer Marco Walker and Lady Gaga make up artists Katie Shaw we ventured up to Lake Tahoe.
We're not releasing any images as yet but here is a little snippet.

We just got back from a stint in Ibiza. Marco Walker my great friend and photographer caught the magic of the island..

We hit the brand new night Bam ba lam put on by Luke Gamble at Novum, ate a El Chiringuito and chilled out at Es Torrens a magical little pebble cove with the most delicious salt baked sea bass and huge bean bag sun loungers, and that is just a taster... Here are some of Marcos brilliant shots....

EDEL ASSANTI- The Hot New Place

Charming Charlie Fellowes recently introduced me to his new gallery project in Victoria. EDEL ASSANTI. An old 3 story exposed brick building with an eerie underground feel on Vauxhall Bridge Road a stones throw from Victoria Station.

The exhibition on show was THE ALCHEMISTS which explored the meaning of alchemy in relation to visual art. The idea is developed over each floor in 3 chapters. The one that particularly caught my eye was the first chapter " Colourless Eureka" which has inspired me for my next collection.

JANG-oh HONG a Goldsmiths graduate has sculpted a set of ethereal knuckle dusters which are mind blowing. They have been created using broken glass, refuse and found objects. Wearable? maybe not but a stunning work of art.

Glistening in the corner was the diamond shape (or Superman for some ) installation made out of faceted glass ring boxes. A brilliant representation of the ultimate alchemist, being able to turn base materials into objects of aesthetic beauty, desire and intrigue.

Now showing at the Edel Assanti opening this month is Venetia Deardon's GLASTONBURY- ANOTHER STAGE from 10th June- 4th July.. get your festival spirit on and head down there!

Fashion talk: ‘maxcessories’ enter the stylish lexicon

The way to rebel against all the shades of nudes and pastels that have invaded the fashion sphere is to punctuate the palette with sparkly gold, silver and metallic accessories.

I suspect one of the reasons that everyone is raving about the accessory brand Bex Rox is that the chain-link bracelets and necklaces, woven with bright colour pops of red or blue leather and ribbons, make anything pale look interesting.

The other reason? Its name. Bex Rox sounds cool, right?

To make it big in fashion, it helps to have a name that everyone can remember. Fashion types are notoriously lazy about remembering names (and faces).

You know you’ve arrived when you get called by your first name, like Kate (Moss), Stella (McCartney), Hussein (Chalayan) or Anna (Wintour). Otherwise it’s the one-size-fits-all moniker “Daaarling!”

Occasionally an accessory brand comes along, such as Toy, the chunky watches, and Ugg, the boots, and now it’s Bex Rox, which concurrently slips into fashion and fashion-speak.

By dropping “Bex Rox” into a conversation, the listener would prick up her or his ears, even if she or he didn’t have a clue what you were talking about.

If she were fashionable, of course, you would earn huge amounts of style points.

It turns out the person behind the label, Rebecca (Bex) Manners, ticks all the right boxes in terms of beauty, background and brains.

She grew up splashing about out in the crystal waters of the Mediterranean – like Jade Jagger, she’s a Balearic Islands groover. She then moved to New York, became a fashion stylist for W magazine, Calvin Klein and US Vogue, as well as a seasoned global collector.

Lucky for her, neutrals are providing the perfect backdrop to display her wares, which, it must be said, owe a great deal to Coco Chanel’s chains – without the granny vibe.

The bracelets and necklaces, which also feature semi-precious stones, look like a posh version of festival friendship bracelets. Being sold as limited-edition pieces in exclusive boutiques such as S*uce in Dubai has, however, helped elevate them to must-have status.

Because there doesn’t seem to be one particular It-bag anymore (satchels with the strap slung over the body are de rigueur), statement accessories – or maxcessories – such as these chains are tipped to be huge this season.

Tasselled flat sandals like those seen on the Louis Vuitton catwalks are already everywhere on the high street. Anticipating a summer of open-toe sandals and peep-toe “droopy bootees” Chanel has just launched two new nail polish shades to go with its colour Particuliere.

They hope Tendresse (507), a salmon-hued pink and Inattendu (503), a nude, will mirror the sell-out status of last year’s Jade, which was going for $300 (Dh1,100) on eBay.

The ultimate maxcessories include Lanvin’s tribal necklaces, Holly Fulton’s bangles (worn in threes) and ethnic earrings that dangle to – or past – your shoulder (singular). It will be interesting to see if the one-earring catwalk look takes off.

Bex Rox has donated 100 Friendship Bracelets to Sam's College Fund.
Sam's story-
Sam is 19 and lives in Nairobi, Kenya.

He was diagnosed with diabetes when he was just 9 years old and needs to inject insulin twice a day to survive.

After his dad died from diabetes when Sam was 12, his mother had to choose between feeding the family and buying Sam insulin. Staying without led him to develop cataracts in both eyes at 15, forced him to drop out of school and has put him in a coma twice.

I met Sam whilst filming a BBC Documentaryon diabetes last year. Abandoned by his family, he was living in a tiny room in a slum and struggling to survive on just over a dollar a day.

Laura was struck by Sam’s intelligence, positivity and philosophical outlook on life. His endeavors to find a well paid job and firm belief in education as the best way forward inspired me to act on an idea I’d been thinking about for some time.

Sam had been dealt a pretty tough hand but Laura knew it wouldn't take much to change that and give him a chance…

Bex Rox also donated a a Forbidden Jewel Necklace to the luxury raffle for the Women for Women International Charitable Organization. The Organization funds and implements various projects around the world helping women become more independent in under privileged countries. The event raised over £250,000 which will go straight to facing some of the most serious issues facing women around the world.

Sawaya's lego art

Sculpture has been talked about so much recently, it all started with a trip to the Royal Academy of Arts to see Anish Kapoor's exhibition. Where previously I would have noticed it, on my daily travels around london I have become more aware of beautiful sculpture and architecture we have on our doorstep.

I was introduced to Nathan Sawaya recently and am intrigued by his sculptures made out of lego. Who knew that children's apparatus could look so incredible?? Out of interest (and a secret desire to own one) I looked up how much it would be to have a Nathan Sawaya sculpture on my mantlepiece... and i found out that one can actually have a life-size replica of themselves made for $60,000!

I think I might just head down to Toys R Us and see how I manage doing it myself!

Paris we Love

We've just finished launching and selling the A/W10-11 collection in Paris.

What an inspirational week fueled with picture perfect parties, gorgeous new collections and new found loves.

We presented out new collection with RMO in the marais who were also showcasing Sykes London, Lara Bohinc shoes, Markus Lufter, Julian Macdonald, Richard Nicolls, Roksanda and Clements Ribeiro (which I am so pleased to see of their return - i have always been an avid fan)

Jo Sykes new collection is on top of my list for must have lux staples, such beautiful fabrics you want to live in them!

I love the "one off" vintage silk scarf dresses and the cashmere embellished knits.

We had dinner with the Browns team the Le Derriere- a secret trendy spot for les parisiennes. You walk in to see a cool well heeled bunch but in a relaxed setting with tables surrounding a ping pong table. There's a spiral staircase with magazines scattered on the edges ( incase you want to brush up on Vogue's 90's A/W's boots ) which takes you to a large dining room to your right and a mirrored wardrobe to your left, I was advised to walk straight through it to get my nicotine hit... "really?" surely enough it was somewhat fantastical- you go through the lion, the witch and the wardrobe to an eclectic smoking attic - which is yet to be cleaned out!

The food was mediterranean/ french - delicious. A great place after a long day to kick back and get re-energized.

Friday evening the wondrous one got a call saying there was a last minute cancellation at a secret supper club in East London called Fernando & Leluu which we have been wanting to discover for a while. It a sensational experience like going round a friends house for dinner yet not completely in the dark about what is about to happen. With a 7 course tasting menu that expectantly we had to twiddle our chopsticks waiting. The invitation, to celebrate Chinese New Year, insisted that we should come with a touch of red, so in true Bex Rox fashion, I blinged out my arm with the new friendship bracelets. By the time I got home, my arm was bare as after I had a few glasses of wine I had given them away to some of my fellow (very grateful) diners.

I'm loving this new craze of secret supper clubs!! Incredible food, interesting people and a touch of out of the ordinary excitement. I have heard that The Secret Ingredient is incredible - it is run by a guy call Horton Jupiter (great name!!) from his flat in Hackney.

I can't wait for my next adventure at Nuno Mendes' spectacular club- - The Loft. I'm expecting the tasting menu to be seriously delectable as the head chef from Noma will be in charge for the evening.

Now back to finishing the collection, we are exhausted but very excited to launch it. Inspired by Futurism, star wars, and the aurora - northern lights...

I was off celebrating my Sisters birthday in Madrid this weekend, enjoying the rays of sun, fine vino tinto on the plaza real and finding some fantastic inspiration in the Rastro ( flea market ) vintage shops. It's busy and there is a lot of junk but plough through to the little side streets and you will stumble across some treasure troves of beautiful vintage dresses, jewellery and jackets dating from the Victorian times to the 60's.

Meanwhile back in London Sarah Harding was sporting the trio BEX ROX magnetic cuff on the Jonothan Ross show.

BROWNS, VOGUE Fashion Night out

The evening was a major global fashion party organized by Vogue's editor herself Anna Wintour.

Browns was the headline event in London organized by PR Director Zoe Kuipers where the designers took lead to sell

their own collections for the night.

Marios Schwab, Henry Holland, Roksanda, Lily Parker & Ben Grimes, Charlotte Dellal and Osman Yousefzada were all part of what made South Molton Street

came to a stand still.

Henry Holland was sporting a BEX ROX friendship bracelet as he described the piece as " the colour of the season with a genius clasp" The bellinis flowed and sales went through the roof, ALL in the name of charity darling!
